Day 01 – Airport-Pinnawela-Kandalama

Arrival at the Airport. You will be met by our Island Leisure Lanka Tour Guide at the Airport Welcomed and offered assistance.
Thereafter you will travel to Kandalama via Pinnawela visiting the Elephant orphanage enroute. Travel time: Approximately 2hrs to Pinnawela & 2hrs from there to Amaya Lake Hotel
ELEPHANT ORPHANAGE AT PINNAWELA – Pinnawela orphanage is situated northwest of the town Kegalle, halfway between the present capital of Colombo and the ancient royal residence Kandy in the hills of central Sri Lanka. It was established in 1975 by the Sri Lanka Wildlife department. This 24 acres large elephant orphanage is an also breeding place for elephants, more than twenty elephants were born since 1984, and it has the greatest herd of elephants in captivity in the world.
Evening Leisure at Dambulla.
Dambulla is famous for Bird watching bountiful experience with more than 165 species living in the varied environment. Visiting ‘twitches’ can enjoy 3 different bird watching trails.Several World Heritage Sites are just a short drive away; the sacred pilgrimage site of Dambulla, Anuradhapura the ancient capital city of Sri Lanka and the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. When not sightseeing guests may try elephant back trekking.

Day 02 –Dambulla – Sigiriya – Dambulla

After breakfast, engage in an exciting excursion to Sigiriya. Travel time ½ an hour
SIGIRIYA – This UNESCO World Heritage site, a spectacular Rock Fortress, is one of Sri Lanka’s major attractions. The most impressive facets of the unique complex are the Water Gardens, the Frescoes of beautiful maidens, the Mirror Wall with ancient graffiti, the Lion platform and the Summit of 1.6 hectares, which was completely covered by buildings during the period of Sigiriya’s glory.
In the afternoon visit Dambulla cave temples. Travel time 01hr
DAMBULLA CAVE TEMPLES – Dating back to the 01st century BC, this complex of 5 caves was used as refuge by an ancient king who on regaining his throne, commissioned magnificent carved images within the living rock. Later kings made further improvements and most of the paintings are from the early 19th century – A UNESCO World Heritage site.

Day 03 –Dambulla – Kandy via Matale enroute visit Spice Garden.

After Breakfast Leave for Kandy the hill capitol of Sri Lanka.
SPICE GARDEN AT MATALE and see the luscious Cinnamons, Cardamoms, Pepper plants etc. You can also purchase your requirements of spices. Clients will have the opportunity to learn different spices and its significance to the local cuisine as Sri Lanka is famous for its rice and curries prepared using several spices. Also the clients can get a free Head massage.
PM: Arrive in KANDY
KANDY – a lovely exotic city, the Hill Capital and last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings is a UNESCO World Heritage Site which retains an aura of grandeur, time has not affected. Encircled by hills, with a tranquil lake in its centre, it is the site of the renowned temple that enshrines the Tooth Relic of the Buddha and the Royal Botanical gardens – home to one of the world’s best collections of Orchids. A cultural sanctuary where many legends, traditions and folklore are still lovingly kept alive, Kandy and its satellite villages are the centre of the islands handicraft industry (items of wood, brass & silver) exquisite silver or gold jewellery and precious gems of many varieties including the world’s best blue and star sapphires. In Kandy, the group will travel via the upper lake drive, check into the hotel and relax by the pool sideThereafter, the group will enjoy the Cultural show and later visit the Temple of the Tooth popularly known as the “Dalada Maligawa”
TEMPLE OF THE TOOTH RELIC – The famous Dalada Maligawa or the Temple of the sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy is the most venerated place of worship for Buddhists throughout the world. Built in the 16th century, this temple houses the sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha brought to Sri Lanka from the Kalinga province in ancient India in the 4th century AD. Several buildings have been added to the temple complex by successive rulers, the latest being the Golden Canopy over the inner shrine where the Tooth Relic is placed. Originally the Temple was within the King’s palace complex as it was the symbol of Royal Authority.

Day 04 –Kandy –Peradeniya Botanical Garden- City tour- Nuwara Eliya

Early, breakfast at the hotel you will leave to visit the ROYAL BOTANICAL GARDENS in Peradeniya followed by a City tour in Kandy. ROYAL BOTANICAL GARDENS – Believed to be one of the most beautiful gardens in South Asia and begun as a pleasure garden by a Sinhala King. Every variety tropical and temperate tree and flower is cultivated here and special houses with orchids and e cacti are too beautiful to be true. Special features are the Orchid House which displays a fine collection of Sri Lankan orchids, the fernery, spice garden, and the trees planted by distinguished visitors to the Island.
On the way visit a Tea Factory at Ramboda .
PM: Arrive & city tour of Nuwara Eliya.
NUWARA ELIYA – Sri Lanka’s premier hill resort with a fine bracing mountain climate, Nuwara Eliya is also the heart of Sri Lanka’s tea country, producing some of the world’s best tea. The mountain slopes and valleys are a carpet of velvety green tea plantations, interspersed with gushing streams and tumbling waterfalls. Red or green roofed plantation bungalows, English country style homes and hotels with lovely flower gardens, a fine 18-hole golf course and a racecourse gives Nuwara Eliya a decidedly British character.

Day 05 – Nuwara Eliya City tour & Leave for Tissamaharama via Bandarawela, Ella & Kataragama.

After Early, breakfast at the hotel you will leave to Tissamaharama.
PM: Arrive in Kataragama
Kataragama.A sylvan shrine, 21km inland from Tissa is a shrine dedicated to God Skanda, the Hindu God of war known locally as ‘Kataragama Deiyo’ is one of the most important pilgrim sites in Sri Lanka.
The annual festival is held in July / August when a large number of Buddhists, Hindus and even Muslims converge to take part in the festivities. They cleanse themselves in the holy waters of the Menik Ganga (river) and offer flowers, incense and fruits to the shrine & Kirivehera. However Kataragama has visitors daily and has an exotic atmosphere laced with religious fervor with rows of little boutiques selling sweet smelling jasmine, lotus, incense, fruit and also bead chains, bangles, and other baubles to tempt the young.

Day 06 – Tissamaharama – Yala – Bentota

You will go on a adventurous jeep safari to Yala National Park, the largest of its kind in Sri Lanka: Wild life paradise with a terrain of scrub jungle is a Strict Nature Reserve and National Park of 126,786 hectares. The majestic elephants are the most famous residents at Yala, while the sight of a leopard sunning itself or lapping up water at one of the many waterholes, could be a memorable experience. The bear could also be sighted, while hundreds of shy spotted deer roam freely. Visitors can observe the jackals slinking away the, monkeys at their pranks chattering away, wild boar and buffalo at their watering holes, crocodiles basking on the bunds, and the occasional python.
PM: Arrive in Bentota
This is an absolute lazy destination, and a good base to travel to many interesting destinations of Sri Lanka’s southwest coast… Bentota beach – This lovely stretch of beach plays host to some of the most luxurious hotels on the west coast and is lined with post card perfect coconut groves.

Day 07 – Bentota – Galle –Turtle Hatchery – Bentota

After Breakfast leave for city tour of Galle.
Galle is a city situated on the southwestern tip of Sri Lanka, 119 km from Colombo. Galle is the capital city of Southern Province of Sri Lanka and it lies in Galle District.Galle was known as Gimhathiththa (although Ibn Batuta in the 14th century refers to it as Qali) before the arrival of the Portuguese in the 16th century, when it was the main port on the island. Galle reached the height of its development in the 18th century, during the Dutch colonial period. Galle is the best example of a fortified city built by Europeans in south and southeast Asia, showing the interaction between European architectural styles and south Asian traditions. The Galle fort is a world heritage site and the largest remaining fortress in Asia built by European occupiers. Other prominent landmarks in Galle include the natural harbor, the National Maritime Museum, St. Mary’s Cathedral founded by Jesuit priests, one of the main Shiva temples on the island.
Galle offers a unique opportunity to create a visible demonstration of the conservation of its inheritance. Galle is also an exciting, internationally famous visitor destination. Rumassala in Unawatuna is a large mound-like hill, which forms the eastern protective barrier to the Galle harbour. Local tradition associates this hill with some events of the Ramayana.
PM: Visit Turtle Hatchery at Kosgoda.
Kosgoda is famous for its turtle hatchery- operated by the Wild Life Protection Society of Sri Lanka. It was established in 1981 to protect Sri Lanka’s turtles from extinction. The hatchery pays fishermen for eggs that they collect at night along the sandy beach. Visitors can see huge tanks filled with new born turtle hatchlings. After being fed, the baby turtles are taken to the sea and released when they are 2-4 days old, usually during the safer hours of darkness. Although October to April is the main laying season, some eggs can be found at Kosgoda throughout the year.

Set up in 1999 the FoG is a source of life annually for about 30,000 people providing training in 30 different empowerment sectors, free of charge,gency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) through IT-BPO projects initiated by ICTA.

Day 10 – Ahungalla – Colombo

Early B’fast arrives in Colombo city tour of the commercial capitol of Sri Lanka.
Colombo including last minute shopping. Colombo is a metropolitan city with a population of nearly one million. It is the commercial Capital of Sri Lanka, which keeps pace with modern developments while preserving the Old World charms. Among the many places of interest in the City are the Fort, the Old Parliament House (presently the Presidential Secretariat), Buddhist temples, Old Churches, Hindu temples, Mosques, the National Museum, Independence Hall, Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall and the Zoological Gardens. ‘Five Star’ international chain hotels and a large number of other hotels and guest houses provide comfortable accommodation to the visitors at affordable prices. Several specialty restaurants serving international cuisine, karaoke bars, and discotheques keep the visitors happy late into the night.
